This is a nationally recognised unit standard run by Elite Safety Training (NZQA approved PTE).  This is a hands on programme, guided by qualified trainers, and contextualised to your actual job role.  You’ll leave this programme with the skills, confidence, helpful resources, and practical experience to assess risks in the real world.

This programme is designed for anyone who needs to carry out risk assessments as part of their job — in any industry. It’s valuable for:

  • Health & Safety Representatives and Officers
  • Supervisors, Team Leaders, and Managers
  • Business owners and self-employed workers
  • Any employees responsible for identifying hazards and managing risks in their workplace, from low risk jobs and industries (office based) through to high risk jobs and industries (electrical, Traffic management, construction etc)

Whether you work in an office, retail, education, healthcare, trades and construction, utilities, traffic management, or any other environment, this course will give you the practical skills and confidence to complete effective risk assessments in your role.

Workshop (Morning):

  • Monitoring and Review 

Assessment (Afternoon):

  • Describe the principles of the risk assessment process in terms of workplace health and safety.
  • Identify hazards using appropriate hazard ID procedures
  • Complete a risk assessment
  • Identify controls to manage the risk
  • Identify methods to monitor managed risks
  • Identify Methods to Review the Risk Assessment

Post Assessment Applied Practice:

  • Apply what you have learned in the workplace – complete the job sheet provided to you and upload post assessment.
   

Prerequisites

There are no formal prerequisites for this training programme. However, to complete your practical assessment, you must be working in a workplace where you can bring a real job, example, or site from your workplace to the workshop. This ensures your learning is directly applied to your role and workplace environment.
