Entry requirements vary depending on the programme. Some courses are suitable for people new to the industry, while others require existing knowledge, skills, or workplace experience. Please refer to the individual programme information for specific requirements.
As a registered Private Training Establishment (PTE), Elite Safety Training is required to collect certain personal information from learners for enrolment, training, assessment, certification, and NZQA reporting purposes.
This may include your full legal name, date of birth, contact details, National Student Number (NSN), citizenship or residency status, and other information required to meet our regulatory obligations.
Personal information is collected, stored, and used in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 and our Privacy Policy.
Elite Safety Training is required to verify the identity of learners for enrolment and NZQA reporting purposes.
Depending on the programme and enrolment requirements, learners may be asked to provide identification such as:
- A New Zealand passport (current or expired)
- A New Zealand birth certificate
- Other approved identification documents (ie NZ drivers license)
For online enrolments, you will be asked to upload identification as part of the enrolment process.
For face-to-face workshops, learners may also be required to bring their identification with them so that Elite Safety Training can verify their identity in person.
For online or remote learning programmes, where in-person verification is not possible, Elite Safety Training may require learners to:
- Provide a verified copy of their identification, or
- Verify their identity through a video call with an Elite Safety Training representative.
Identity verification helps ensure that training records, NZQA credits, qualifications, and certificates are recorded against the correct learner.
Elite Safety Training is required, as a registered Private Training Establishment (PTE), to verify the identity of learners for enrolment, assessment, certification, and NZQA reporting purposes.
Identity verification helps ensure that training records, NZQA credits, qualifications, and certificates are recorded against the correct learner and supports the integrity of the New Zealand Qualifications Framework (NZQF).
Elite Safety Training may also require identification when creating, locating, or verifying a National Student Number (NSN).
A National Student Number (NSN) is a unique number used by NZQA and education providers in New Zealand to record your learning, qualifications, and achievement. Your NSN stays with you throughout your education and training journey.
An NSN allows Elite Safety Training to:
- Report NZQA credits and results.
- Verify your learning and achievement history where required.
- Ensure your qualifications and achievements are correctly recorded with NZQA.
If you already have an NSN but do not know the number, you can:
- Check your NZQA Record of Achievement.
- Check previous qualification certificates or training records.
- Contact NZQA on 0800 697 296.
- Access your NZQA Learner Login at: https://www2.nzqa.govt.nz/login/national-student-number-nsn/
Elite Safety Training may also be able to assist with locating your NSN. To do this, we will need suitable identification, such as a New Zealand passport (current or expired) or a New Zealand birth certificate.
If you do not already have an NSN, Elite Safety Training can assist with obtaining one as part of the enrolment process. You may be required to provide evidence of your identity (a current or expired passport or birth certificate) before an NSN can be created or verified.
Requirements vary by programme. Any specific equipment, clothing, identification, or materials required will be outlined in your enrolment confirmation or course information.
Please contact us as soon as possible if you are unable to attend. Depending on the circumstances, we may be able to transfer your booking to another course date. Refer to our Fees, Refunds and Withdrawals Policy for further information.
Where applicable, learners who successfully complete the training and assessment requirements will receive a certificate of achievement or statement of completion. NZQA results will be reported in accordance with programme requirements. If you have declared at the time of enrolment that your employer can receive a certificate, a copy will also be sent to your employer on file.
If your contact details change during your training, please notify Elite Safety Training as soon as possible. Keeping your details up to date helps ensure we can contact you regarding your enrolment, assessments, results, certificates, and other important information.
Assessment and Results
Assessment methods vary depending on the programme and may include written questions, practical demonstrations, workplace activities, observations, projects, discussions, or portfolio evidence.
If you are assessed as Not Yet Competent, you may be eligible for reassessment opportunities depending on the programme requirements. Your assessor will discuss the outcome and any available next steps with you.
Results are generally provided as soon as reasonably practicable following assessment and quality assurance processes. Timeframes may vary depending on the programme and assessment method.
Where a programme leads to NZQA credit achievement, results will be reported to NZQA once all assessment and moderation requirements have been completed.
Workplace Based Training and Assessment
Programme requirements vary depending on the training being undertaken.
Some programmes can be completed entirely through classroom, workshop, or online learning. However, many Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) programmes are designed for people who work, or intend to work, in environments where they can apply the skills and knowledge being taught.
Depending on the programme, practical activities may be completed in a workplace or in a simulated training environment provided by Elite Safety Training. Please refer to the individual programme information or contact us if you are unsure about the requirements for your chosen course.
Workplace evidence is information gathered from normal work activities that demonstrates a learner’s ability to apply the skills and knowledge covered during training. This may include completed documents, practical tasks, observations, photographs, records, or verifier reports.
A workplace verifier is a person who is familiar with a learner’s work and can confirm that workplace activities or practical tasks have been completed. Verifiers are typically supervisors, managers, team leaders, trainers, mentors, or experienced workers who have direct knowledge of the learner’s performance in the workplace.
Verifiers must have appropriate experience and knowledge of the work being verified and be able to provide accurate and honest information about the learner’s performance.
Workplace verifiers are not responsible for determining assessment outcomes or awarding competency. Their role is to observe and verify workplace activities on behalf of Elite Safety Training. All assessment decisions and determinations of competency are made by an Elite Safety Training assessor based on the evidence provided and the requirements of the assessment.
A workplace verifier is typically a supervisor, manager, team leader, trainer, mentor, or experienced worker who is familiar with the learner’s work and can confidently verify that workplace activities or practical tasks have been completed to the required standard.
Verifiers should:
- Have sufficient knowledge and experience in the work being undertaken.
- Be familiar with the learner’s performance in the workplace.
- Be able to provide honest and accurate information about the learner’s competency.
- Act with integrity and in the interests of learner safety and assessment validity.
For some programmes, Elite Safety Training may require a verifier to hold Unit Standard 30423 (Participate in assessment processes as a verifier) or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience and skills. All verifier evidence is reviewed by an Elite Safety Training assessor before assessment decisions are made.
If you would like to enquire about becoming an approved workplace verifier for Elite Safety Training please contact us directly: training@elitesafety.co.nz.
Some programmes may require employer support, workplace access, or verification of practical activities. Where employer involvement is required, this will be explained during enrolment.
If your employer has arranged and paid for your training, and you have consented to Elite Safety Training sharing information with your employer, we may communicate with them regarding your enrolment, attendance, training progress, assessment requirements, and results, where appropriate and in accordance with our privacy obligations.
In most cases, yes. If your employment circumstances change during a programme, please contact us as soon as possible so we can discuss available options.

Refund eligibility depends on the timing and circumstances of the withdrawal. Please refer to our Fees, Refunds and Withdrawals Policy and our Terms and Conditions for full details.
Where possible, enrolments may be transferred to an alternative course date. Requests should be made as early as possible and may be subject to administrative fees or programme conditions.
If a course is cancelled by Elite Safety Training, learners will be offered an alternative training date or a refund in accordance with our policies.
