STMS Mobile Workshop Overview:
This half day workshop will give the learner a non practicing STMS Mobile warrant. This provides the learner with the base knowledge for undertaking mobile operations on either Category A or Category B road environments or the shoulder of a category C road environment. This learning block is not appropriate if the person is required to be in charge of mobile operations to install, maintain or remove TTM at static worksites. The STMS Cat A and/or B Practicing qualification will cover this activity.
After you complete the STMS Mobile workshop, to gain the practicing warrant you would do the following:
New to STMS role:
- 2 closures verified by a TTM Mentor – Undertake a mobile operation on the shoulder or berm of a Category A road environment, and undertake a mobile operation on the shoulder or berm of a category B road environment. (must include a shadow and tail pilot vehicle).
- 1 closure assessed by a TTM Assessor – Undertake a mobile operation on the lane of a Cat A or B road environment (must include a shadow and tail pilot vehicle).
Expiring or recently expired STMS (no longer than 12 months:
- 1 closure assessed by a TTM Assessor – Undertake a mobile operation on the lane of a Cat A or B road environment (must include a shadow and tail pilot vehicle).
Pre-Requisites
- STMS Universal warrant or unit standard 31961 is the minimum prerequisite to this workshop.
- Those wishing to gain the practicing STMS mobile warrant must first hold the practicing TMO warrant or unit standard 31960.
Who Should Attend:
Anyone new to the Traffic Management Industry that needs to complete their job safely while working on the road. This can include but it not limited to:
- Civil Contractors, Consultants, Engineers, Utility Operators, landscapers, garden maintenance and anyone wishing to complete mobile operations as an onsite STMS.
Workshop Content:
- Complete Risk assessments for a mobile activity.
- Calculate layout distances for mobile operations.
- Complete Mobile operations and closures
- Complete semi-static closures.

Once you have booked the workshop using the booking link above:
Before the Workshop:
- You will then receive email confirmation of the workshop booking outlining what to bring to the workshop. You will also be sent up to 3 reminder emails and a text reminder before the day.
What to Bring:
- If you have access to a tablet/laptop you can bring this along to the workshop with the downloaded STMS Mobile Handbook that we will email out to you in the above confirmation email (mobile device is not suitable for this). Otherwise a hard copy is provided on the day.
Day of the Workshop:
- Start time is normally 8.00am start. Finish time is approx. 1pm.
- Morning tea is provided.
- This session will be at one of our conference venues, and is indoors all day.
- There will be theory assessments to complete throughout the day. If you have a learning difference we need to be aware of please let us know.
After the workshop:
- On successful completion of the workshop, your STMS Mobile Non Practicing warrant will be registered with Waka Kotahi (NZTA).
- You will then receive a certificate from Elite Safety within 7 days confirming completion of the workshop and the Warrant.
Pricing & Payment:
- Cost – $325 + GST for the workshop per person. There will be an additional charge for the practicing warrant.
- An invoice will be generated, and payment is required by due date on the invoice.
- All workshops must be paid in full prior to attending unless you have an arrangement with us.
Qualification:
Waka Kotahi (NZTA): You will receive the STMS Mobile Non Practicing Warrant issued by Waka Kotahi (NZTA). Please note that you will no longer receive a warrant ID card, you will be able to search your qualification using the CoPTTM search.
Once you complete the practical assessment(s) you will then gain the STMS Mobile Practicing warrant.
Cancellations:
There are limits on how many trainees can attend each workshop, so we do have wait lists for workshops. Because of this we have a cancellation policy, which is in place to make sure that if there is a cancellation there is enough time to be able to fill your space before the workshop.
