How Training Fits Into Competency

Completing a training programme or achieving a qualification does not automatically mean a person is competent to perform a task unsupervised.

Competency develops over time through a combination of training, workplace experience, supervision, mentoring, and practical application. Training provides the foundation, but workers must also have opportunities to apply their skills and knowledge in real-world situations.

Elite Safety Training supports competency development by providing practical, industry-focused training that can be applied in the workplace. PCBUs remain responsible for ensuring workers have the appropriate training, experience, supervision, and support to carry out their duties safely.
